Looking at houses online and this one just made me laugh… looks like a bunch of boobies in your kitchen.  Lol

Stud Bro

So my brother has been competing in Triathlons.  It’s quite amazing and I have been wanting some pics and still don’t have many- but here’s what I got…

I think this is so amazing and just can’t believe he is doing so much with it, so often.

He did the Alcatraz Triathlon which was pretty intimidating, but did a wonderful job considering he won the chance to do it by having his name pulled from a lottery.  And last weekend in a triathlon he placed 5th and was 20 secs from 3rd!  And he even puked while he was running!  WAY TO GO BUB!

And on a cool side note- he designed this get up he is wearing!  Isn’t it cool?  Him and his real estate buddies are tri-athletes and started a group and Powerade sponsors them among others.  I love the way it turned out!

 

So something we like to do when we wait for him during his run is try and pick him out from a distance… it’s so entertaining to see how much the person we pick looks like him or looks nothing like him…. here’s a few examples…

My Dearest Kebby

Lola your Aunt Kebby is a one of a kind, in the best way possible.  I know you will truly enjoy her as you grow and I look forward to seeing y’all’s relationship develop into a friendship!

So my lil’ sis graduated… and I already have funny stories.  So at church they had a service that recognized the seniors and I was so excited for her… we arrive and sit down and I am already searching for Kebby in the crowd- then I spot her… she’s all decked out in her cap and gown, which I had yet to seen on her, and the tears came.  I was so embarrassed so quickly wiped them away and waved to her from a distance.  Then shortly after, they prayed for the seniors and asked family to come up, so Clay stayed behind with Lola, thank goodness… wait for it… and Nick, Mom and I went up to be with Kebby.  Oh and Dad is actually saying the prayer over all the graduating seniors.  So I hug her and am barely crying again and then as soon as Dad starts praying and I lean my head down I start crying a little harder and thanks to allergies and crying and tilting my head down- my nose starts running like crazy!  So I went to QUIETLY sniff my nose and try and dry up my face and SNORTED so FREAKING LOUD!  Then I got tickled, the kind of tickled (I am getting tickled all over again and Clay is freaking out thinking I am laughing at him) so the kind of tickled that you just can’t get out of.  People around me probably thought I was absolutely losing it bawling… and even Kebby looked at me then when she realized I was laughing uncontrollably she chimed in. We couldn’t stop and in the meantime mom is hitting us saying “your father is praying, shut up!” and Nick is saying how ridiculous I am and was embarrassed and then after several seconds (felt like hours) Nick got super tickled over it all and mom probably would have cursed at us all if we weren’t at church and if our father wasn’t praying!  Seriously people came up to us afterwards and asked if we were okay- I am not sure what is worse- to say we were actually laughing, not bawling or to pretend we were bawling.  :)  I just explained to Clay why I was laughing and he said this happened over a month ago, and I am still laughing… He definitely thinks I am crazy!

Then at graduation Nick and I stood up and yelled “You made it Kebby” when they called her name.  We weren’t suppose to, but you know are sibling love we have for each other.  We just couldn’t help ourselves… even Lola kept clapping and waving.  I really felt like Lola knew something special was taken place.  She was adorable…

This sweet record player… even I want one.  I love how we are all into records now thanks to my sweet hubby’s passion.

Just call me Thrifty

So I found a really cool antique fixture at a garage sale by the lake house and just couldn’t pass up on it.  My cheap self wouldn’t dish out the $5 to pay for it and I told the lady she was selling this way too cheap because I had a hunch it was worth a good bit more.  It had old wiring which originally kept me from buying it, but it was milk glass and antique brass much like this one:

It was in perfect shape and luckily Laura told me as we pulled away that I would regret it, so I dug out 2.5o in change and went back.  The lady looked real excited I was coming back for it until I held out my hands and asked if she would consider less!  She was practically giving her nick nacks away for pennies and so I thought she would be easy to persuade… and I was right!  So they cheapest I have seen these go for is $100 and they just go up and up from there… can’t decide if I am going to sell it and hang it, but I have a feeling I will hang it.  :)

And my next fun find was this:

Do you know what this is?  I certainly didn’t have a clue (mine doesn’t look identical to this one thought- I will take pics later!)  Most people probably know, but it’s a gun rack.  Good ol’ East Texas.  Haha… but I bought it for a wrapping paper station.  It will hold 4 rolls and I can switch out the rolls depending on holidays or celebrations coming up and I plan on painting it white and adding crystal knobs or some funky ones.  I think it’s going to be really cute and the drawer will always make scissors and tape easy to find!  Can’t wait to complete this project!!

The Afters (Sorry no befores…)

So as always I forgot to take pictures of what things look like before, but it’s pretty cool to see the after, so pretend you know what the before looks like… :)

I loved this lamp! $5 Goodwill!  Can’t beat that!  It is such a good creamy white!  A wet rag to wipe clean and an instant beauty… It goes so good in my laundry room.  I heart my laundry room!!

Wall color looks funny below… camera and lighting is so weird and I definitely can’t ever get it figured out!

 

And one of my favorite things in the whole world I am about to show you close up?  Are you ready?  First let me preface by saying I found this at a near by antique store and it was marked $18 so I had them call the dealer to see if she would take $11 instead!  I got a yes and just proves it never hurts to ask! P.S. I broke the glass and frame (frame was orange and green!!) it came in which wasn’t such a shame and it magically fit in the frame I already had hanging up to put a picture in… Here is my favorite find this week!  Seriously, what is my obsession with cross-stitch- it’s my 3rd one in life… one in Lola’s room, one in mine, and now the laundry room. Don’t yall really love it though?  I have a feeling I am getting a few heads shaking no…. my  mother says it just matters if you love it honey, so pooey on y’all.

So these frames that are pretty big because the picture alone is 11x14, were on clearance for $6!  That was so cheap and I got 3 mattes (bc I got 3 frames of course!) for $5 total!  Wow!  I painted them cream and magic.  Magic has been happening a lot lately!

And another big wow- is the 11x14 print of Lola was only… $1.50!  I found a new secret place…. COPY MAX!

Walgreens charges over $10 for one! I am super excited!  I just e-mailed them pics and they printed them on a 11x17 piece of photo paper and I was going to crop it, but he went ahead and did it for me! :) They know me by name there… 

 

So this is the downfall to my laundry room (besides the actual door- I HATE that door!) but I rarely notice anything above my head which is kind of a lot… but one sweet day I want to talk my Paw-Paw into hanging a mini girly chandelier instead…. think I can get him to do that?  I might have to make him dinner and a pie for this!

 

Okay so real quickly- my other finds….

This is a spice rack I found and love it lots… I have limited counter space and cabinets and liked this… it fit perfectly! And was already red! $8. A little more than I wanted to spend, but I like it- it has cute black and white paper in it incase anything got sticky or leaked.

 

I already showed this but it was only $10 and I really like it with the glass doors.  I only wiped this down with a little bleach and cut off a lip it had in the back so it would hang flush!

I went into Tuesday Morning for the first time in a long time and loved this birdie.  I love birds especially ones like this…

I pretty much love hounds tooth and have been wanting to change my mantel up for some time even though I loved the way it looked, I just hadn’t changed it in a while.  So I saw this and new it could be the new addition to the mantel… Hobby Lobby. Half off.

Little frame from antique store- love frames likes this because they look like you have had them for awhile and don’t look like they came from Target… 3 or 4 dollars.

Overall…

I am real into having picture frames out right now- hope it’s not too much, but I love  all the photos of Lola!

My next Goodwill find is this great lamp, which is very heavy and was brass!  Not anymore and I put an old school lamp shade on it… I like it a lot! $8 and a mixture of spray paint!

 

Next lamp $8 again- I love bases like these and they are expensive elsewhere even at Homegoods.

 

This side table (small desk) was next to my bed and I added the marble top to it which was just sitting in the garage and I like it- thanks for the idea mom! (Side note to mom: it didn’t fit on the table you suggested but then I remembered it fit on this one so I added it to the room… big difference!)

Okay it’s late, Lola’s up, my allergies suck- so hopefully we both can now go to bed…
